The novel marine cyanobacterium Nunduva sanctimaloensis sp. nov. (Nostocales, Cyanobacteria) from rocky shores and its reproduction through modified monocytes

چکیده
Rocky intertidal regions are diverse as they provide many unique habitats for the growth of cyanobacteria. From outcrops battered by waves, tidal pools, and periods desiccations due to tides, these offer distinct environments much their cyanobacterial diversity remains unexplored. To help elucidate cyanobacteria from this habitat, one nostocalean cyanobacterium Brittany, France was isolated cultured. Typical morphological features including filaments with heteropolar trichomes, basal or intercalary heterocytes, false branching, long hyaline apical hairs suggested genus Nunduva. The combination 16S rRNA gene 16S-23S internal transcribed spacer (ITS), along diagnosable characteristics supports a taxon previously described species. Herein, novel branching Nunduva sanctimaloensis sp. nov. is its reproduction through modified monocytes.

Zobellia amurskyensis sp. nov., Zobellia laminariae sp. nov. and Zobellia russellii sp. nov., novel marine bacteria of the family Flavobacteriaceae.
The taxonomic position of four newly isolated marine, heterotrophic, gliding, Gram-negative, aerobic, pigmented, agarolytic bacteria was established. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated affiliation of the isolates to the genus Zobellia in the family Flavobacteriaceae. DNA-DNA hybridization experiments revealed that the strains studied represent three distinct and novel species, for which ...
متن کاملCalochaete gen. nov. (Cyanobacteria, Nostocales), a new cyanobacterial type from the “páramo” zone in Costa Rica
A new tapered and false branched morphotype of filamentous heterocytous cyanobacterium was isolated from soil material collected on a massif of Chirripó Mountain, Costa Rica. The strain was analyzed morphologically and a sequence of its 16S rRNA gene was compared with available 16S rDNA sequences of organisms with similar morphology, especially those with heteropolar tapering filaments. Phyloge...
متن کاملTwo novel species of marine phototrophic Gammaproteobacteria: Thiorhodococcus bheemlicus sp. nov. and Thiorhodococcus kakinadensis sp. nov.
Two coccoid phototrophic purple sulfur bacteria were isolated from marine habitats (marine aquaculture pond near Bheemli, Visakhapatnam and marine tidal waters from a fishing harbour, Kakinada) in a medium that contained 3% NaCl (w/v). Strains JA132T and JA130T are Gram-negative, motile cocci with a single flagellum. Both have an obligate requirement for NaCl. Intracellular photosynthetic membr...

The filamentous cyanobacterial genus Moorea gen. nov., described here under the provisions of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature, is a cosmopolitan pan-tropical group abundant in the marine benthos. Members of the genus Moorea are photosynthetic (containing phycocyanin, phycoerythrin, allophycocyanin and chlorophyll a), but non-diazotrophic (lack heterocysts and nitrogenase reduct...
متن کاملTasiamide, a cytotoxic peptide from the marine cyanobacterium Symploca sp.
The acyclic peptide tasiamide (1) has been isolated from the marine cyanobacterium Symploca sp. The planar structure and absolute stereochemistry of the peptide were deduced by 2D NMR techniques and chiral HPLC. Tasiamide (1) was cytotoxic against KB and LoVo cells with IC(50) values of 0.48 and 3.47 microg/mL, respectively.
